Stellar Jay

Posted by Picasa

This guy was real hard to get close to and to get him to stand still. The camera was zoomed right in to 12x and then the pictures were heavily cropped, but until I get a better picture of one of these Jays this will have to do. This is the first time I have seen Jays in and about our area. The Stellar Jay is the provincial bird of British Columbia. It's counterpart in the east is the Blue Jay....hard to imagine them catching balls and swing bats.

Bailey

This is Bailey...ie. Jacob's cat, out enjoying what may be some of the last sun rays of the summer. He is a beautiful cat but typically quite independent although today he sat on my lap for a few minutes which he does only once in awhile with me regardless on how much I coax him to come and enjoy a scratch behind the ears. He has a sister called 'Midnight'...guess what colour 'Midnight' is? Posted by Picasa

Grampa Jones

Grampa Jones and my Dad always enjoyed their occasional bottle of beer. I guess it was getting this early start that made me less of a beer drinker. Now that I am a Grampa I'll have to see what influences I can bring to the little ones.

I know this picture is old but how old is that car? I don't remember living in that era. The first car that I remember my Dad owning was a 1949 Monarch...it was a monster of a car. He had to build side curbs along our house and our neighbours house so that he could get the car safely along the driveway between the two houses and into the garage at the back of our house. Posted by Picasa

Cousins

An old favourite picture of the good old days. We, as cousins basically grew up together with many great times at their house, at our house, and at the cottage. My sister Maureen, Cousin Ted, cousin Bob, me, cousin Rick, and cousin Debby. Pretty hansome bunch...a rare occasion that we would be dressed up like this. Anyone know what the occasion was? Posted by Picasa

Jacob's 1st Birthday Party

Jacob had his 1st birthday party with all his friends over to share the special day with him. His Catepillar cake was delicious and Jacob looked pretty cool in his new cozy lounger chair. He got lots of presents and of course the best part of that was the wrapping paper. He'll soon learn that cake taste better than wrapping paper. Posted by Picasa

Double Walking

Tricia counts double mileage when she walks the two of them in her new stoller. It's real fun when one goes to sleep and the other starts inspecting the closed eyeballs. Posted by Picasa

Rock Totem

Yesterday, Tricia and I went kayaking in the Ladner Marsh. Parts of it are like going down a jungle stream with vegetation right to the water edges and into the water....quite relaxing! Unless a snake appears! We didn't take our camera in case we got dumped into the drink so we have no pictures. We didn't see any snakes either. This picture is from a quiet bay up north. The picture is actually positioned vertically. If you look at it side ways you'll see that it is a rocky shoreline with it's reflection in the water. If you get the reflection at the right tidal time and it is very still you can get some interesting "totems" like this one. Posted by Picasa

That's Jacob's girl friend, Abbie, with the boys today. Jacob better watch out that cousin Teo doesn't get in between them too often. Posted by Picasa

Ladner Classic Car Show

Today in Ladner was the "Quilt Walk" with over 300 quilts on display and some 300 classic cars parked on the village streets. The top middle picture is a 1950 Ford....I always wanted a 1949 or 50 Ford. The middle right picture is a Mini 1000....I once had a Mini 850. The bottom right picture is a 1956 Chevrolet. My Dad had one of these and it was the first car I ever drove. I was 13 at the time...he was with me. Posted by Picasa

Another Day at the Pool

Is that Teo pushing Jacob back into the pool. No....he was just trying to get hold of something so he could get back into the water. Posted by Picasa

A Day at the Track

We bet #3 to show and he won!!!!.....paid $2.20 on our $2.00 bet.....Kind of nice to walk away from the track with 20 cents in your pocket. Teo enjoyed the day thoroughly, but we are not sure whether he saw any of the horses....he was too busy looking at everything else going on all around him. Note the tatoos on his arms....he didn't seem to be bothered by the needles at all. Teo was nine months old today!!!Posted by Picasa

Party Animals!!!

When we lived in Regina....30 years ago....we had some of the best neighbours and the best parties ever. These pictures, now 30 years later, show how good our old neighbours were and are, and that we can still party it up when given the opportunity. While we stayed with Ron and Berna at the lake they invited Joe and Katie up to the lake for a visit and barbeque. Nothing would do other than all of us going back into Regina and having dinner at Joe and Katies. They live in the same house from 30 years ago and it is directly across from our old house. Ron and Berna lived right next door to us. All three houses and indeed the street were all in fine order....the big change being the very mature trees and landscaping. Posted by Picasa

At Ron and Berna's Cottage

We spent 4 nights at the cottage and another night in Regina with Ron and Berna. Their cottage is beautiful, as is the lakefront view. Their two girls and their families have cabins nearby so it was quite a family atmosphere and very much reminded me of the wonderful days we had with our families at our cottages in Ontario. We had several boat rides but mainly tried to do anything that would avoid the heat. (temp. 30+). Many thanks to Ron and Berna for a truly wonderful holiday at the lake. Posted by Picasa
