These are my Dads service medals from WW1. All of the Canadian soldiers who served during the war received the two ribbon medals. Engraved on the edge of each medal is his Regimental Number, 113330, his name, J.D. Jones, and his rank, A. Cpl. It is interesting that the engraver put his rank in as A Cpl. because when he was wounded, and found to have lied about his age, he was demoted from A. Cpl. to Private. (permantely) It never seemed fair to me that they demoted him when he was wounded while serving his country, and at the age of only 17. The small pin on the left was given to all the soldiers when they returned and was worn with their street clothes. It gave them some priviledges at the stores and other places.
He was there when the war ended 90 years ago.
Welcome to BeeJay's Blog. Not sure yet whether I'll offer opinions on sex, politics, religion, or sports but might try posting some pictures once in awhile. Thanks for looking! BJ Please feel free to enter 'comments' under any of the postings!
