Welcome to BeeJay's Blog. Not sure yet whether I'll offer opinions on sex, politics, religion, or sports but might try posting some pictures once in awhile. Thanks for looking! BJ

Yesterday, Tricia and I went kayaking in the Ladner Marsh. Parts of it are like going down a jungle stream with vegetation right to the water edges and into the water....quite relaxing! Unless a snake appears! We didn't take our camera in case we got dumped into the drink so we have no pictures. We didn't see any snakes either. This picture is from a quiet bay up north. The picture is actually positioned vertically. If you look at it side ways you'll see that it is a rocky shoreline with it's reflection in the water. If you get the reflection at the right tidal time and it is very still you can get some interesting "totems" like this one.
Today in Ladner was the "Quilt Walk" with over 300 quilts on display and some 300 classic cars parked on the village streets. The top middle picture is a 1950 Ford....I always wanted a 1949 or 50 Ford. The middle right picture is a Mini 1000....I once had a Mini 850. The bottom right picture is a 1956 Chevrolet. My Dad had one of these and it was the first car I ever drove. I was 13 at the time...he was with me.
We bet #3 to show and he won!!!!.....paid $2.20 on our $2.00 bet.....Kind of nice to walk away from the track with 20 cents in your pocket. Teo enjoyed the day thoroughly, but we are not sure whether he saw any of the horses....he was too busy looking at everything else going on all around him. Note the tatoos on his arms....he didn't seem to be bothered by the needles at all. Teo was nine months old today!!!
Tricia and I drove Jacob and his parents down to Seatle to catch their holiday flight to Miami and on to Curacao. They will be visiting with Judy's grandmother and Jacob's great-grandmother!!!
When we lived in Regina....30 years ago....we had some of the best neighbours and the best parties ever. These pictures, now 30 years later, show how good our old neighbours were and are, and that we can still party it up when given the opportunity. While we stayed with Ron and Berna at the lake they invited Joe and Katie up to the lake for a visit and barbeque. Nothing would do other than all of us going back into Regina and having dinner at Joe and Katies. They live in the same house from 30 years ago and it is directly across from our old house. Ron and Berna lived right next door to us. All three houses and indeed the street were all in fine order....the big change being the very mature trees and landscaping.
We spent 4 nights at the cottage and another night in Regina with Ron and Berna. Their cottage is beautiful, as is the lakefront view. Their two girls and their families have cabins nearby so it was quite a family atmosphere and very much reminded me of the wonderful days we had with our families at our cottages in Ontario. We had several boat rides but mainly tried to do anything that would avoid the heat. (temp. 30+). Many thanks to Ron and Berna for a truly wonderful holiday at the lake.
We just returned from our trip to Regina with a must stop at Lake Louise. Oil wells and grain elevators always make an interesting picture. Prairie dogs scooted all over the place, on the prairies that is, and it was so hot even the cows were going into the lake to cool down. I have never seen so many Loones on one lake...the bird type...there were, I would guess several hundred working 'Long Lake' where we stayed with our friends, Berna and Ron, at there cottage.
Karen and Weily did a little paddling today while Teo did his first dry land training in the kayak. No one got wet but we had to dock the kayaks when the waterskiers took over the slough. That's me in the top left just after completing my white water adventure over the waterfalls and on my way to my next kayaking challenge. One day in my kayaking adventures I got swamped by a passing BC Ferry.
Today we went to the air show right here in Delta at the Boundary Bay Airport. I didn't see too much of the show as I was mostly trying to find airplanes in the tiny viewfinder of our camera. I found that if you take enough pictures you usually get a few half decent ones. We got enough to let us remember the show. A fun and interesting day. We'll have to take the 'boys' next year.
Tonight we had dinner at Yoko's house, celebrating Karen and Weily's first year anniversary. I think we all took turns with these two guys while also enjoying several delicious dishes Yoko prepared especially for us. Jacob just turned 9 months old and of course Teo is just 6 weeks younger. Both of them are managing to crawl around and get at things that only a short time ago they could only look at. I'm sure we will all be looking back soon and thinking how nice it was when they just stayed sitting or laying in one place.
We celebrated Canada Day at Nat Bailey Stadium, a short walk from Karen and Weilly's, enjoying a Vancouver Canadians baseball game, plenty of excitement, including a baseball player marriage proposal on the pitchers' mound, (and acceptance), and of course a great fireworks display. Teo was only asleep when we arrived and then thoroughly enjoyed all the festivities....a long, late, and loud night for the little guy.
Had a visit with GB Captain Les (Chardonay) and GB Captain Harold (Odin) just prior to their departure for their summer cruise down through Puget Sound. (First mates, Jan and Judy were provisioning the boats). Les makes a great Margarita so we had to stop in and have a sip....Tricia, after several years of begging and threatening, managed to get the recipe from Les so we will try that some day. (need to get the proper and only the proper ingredients....no substitutes!!)
Isn't it great that even after 40+ years we havn't changed a bit!!! Still smiling. Someone said that I looked like the cat who had just caught the canary. Now the canary says.......
Last Wednesday we went over to the Island for a visit with our friends, Jim and Marcia. Jim was enduring a short stay in the hospital and is now home and on his road to full recovery! We travelled on this super ferry and, on one of the local Victoria, double decker buses all the way from the ferry terminal to downtown Victoria....quite comfortable and scenic. (takes just over an hour). On our return trip we saw several killer whales, just off the Twassawsen ferry terminal....always an added treat to see the Orcas.
