Kodomo no hi

Weily is instilling family tradition on Teo. May 5th, the 5th day of the 5th month is a national holiday in Japan and is now referred to as "Childrens Day". It used to be called "Boys Day" and there is also a girls day in March. Part of the traditional festivities is to fly these carp shaped flags.....the top one represents the father, the middle one represents the mother, and the smaller one represents the children. These particular carp shaped flags have been passed down from Weily's grandfather (Yoko's father) and were given to Teo shortly after he was born.

Jail Birds

In an earlier post I was reminding "the boys" that they didn't ever want to be caught on the inside looking out. Here is their great-grandfather, on the left, and his best friend and brother-in-law, Vic Brown....ie.my Dad and my Uncle Vic.

Florida Wildlife

We went to Homosassa State Park to see the Manatees, top left. Some of these guys grow up to 3500 pounds. They certainly are big...slow moving and apparently very gentle.

Busy Holiday

Busy, busy,....BlueJays in Dunedin with Argos, 'Pinball'....boating on Lake Harris, a fishfry, pistol shooting at the range, Bike Week in Daytona, (1,000's of bikers), Alun preparing for grandaughters "cow party", and Arnold Palmer Invitational golf at Bay Hill. (no cameras allowed), plus Disney world, (twice), and of course lots of happy hours.

Guess who Won!!!

Tricia's sister, Marie and hubbie George.......snowbirds from Toronto, took us on a cruising casino for the day. I won a thousand quarters so we treated ourselves to barbecued ribs with all the trimmings on the way home.

Our Hosts in Florida

Tricia's brother Alun and "Fancy Nancy Boom Boom" treated us to a lovely stay in their specially decorated and very comfortable "Mickey Room". Nancy, Tricia, and I, all went to the same high school....that's where she got the "Fancy Nancy" nickname. Ian and Mark, two of their three boys, also dropped by to share some of their goings on with us.

No Grandkids???

This is probably the first time we have been out, all together, without the little ones....seemed a bit strange, but probably a nice break for the parents. We went for dinner and then to a Broadway show...."The Producers" by Mel Brooks. This was our Christmas present from the parents of the grandkids. The show was great with lots of laughs throughout! Thanks guys!
